A Plus Tree’s Family Workshop: Planting Trees and Making Memories at MOTA Ranch HOA

Greetings, tree enthusiasts! We’re honored to share the heartwarming success story of a recent tree planting family workshop. It was hosted by A Plus Tree in the MOTA Ranch HOA communitymanaged by Omni Communities, in Bay Point, CA.

On Saturday, January 27th, under perfectly overcast skies and cool weather, A Plus Tree organized a day-long event with the help of the HOA board members, bringing together 18 dedicated volunteers, including families with small children and even a newborn! The goal was to plant 60 trees and transform the Bay Point neighborhood into a greener, more vibrant space.

The event’s success was made possible by the efficient use of a skid steer fixed with an auger, which made digging holes for the trees a breeze. Saving loads of time, and the backs, of the volunteers.

A Plus crew members began the day with a tree-planting demo. We were all grateful to have the help of the auger, just off to the left.

Thanks to a generous CalFIRE urban forestry grant, A Plus Tree was able to bring this event to life and contribute to the community’s environmental well-being. The grant not only facilitated the procurement of the trees but also ensured the workshop’s seamless execution.

One of the poignant highlights of the day was the naming of a special tree – “The Jesse Tree” – in memory of a dear friend of one of the volunteers who sadly passed away at the young age of 21. This heartfelt tribute added a touching and personal touch to the event, dedicating a living memorial that can be visited and always remembered.

Despite the looooong 7-hour day, the enthusiasm and commitment of the volunteers prevailed, making the workshop an overwhelming success. Families bonded over the shared experience of planting trees, instilling a sense of environmental responsibility in the younger generation.

The MOTA Ranch HOA community now stands adorned with 60 new trees, a testament to the power of community engagement and environmental stewardship.

Another baby tree in its new home sweet home, thanks to families who volunteered from MOTA Ranch community.

As the sun set on that memorable Saturday, the MOTA Ranch HOA community could bask in the collective accomplishment of a day well spent – a day that not only planted trees but also sowed the seeds of lasting memories for the families involved. A Plus Tree looks forward to many more such events, fostering a greener and more connected world, one tree at a time.

A huge thank you to the management company Omni Communities and Tony Friday for jumping at this opportunity, and the very involved board members who we’re facilitating the process every step of the way: Rodney Grey, Natalie Luenberger, and their supporting members Tambri Heyden and Walter.

Additional Shout-outs:

The A Plus crew: Rob Powell, Chris Gibbons, Leo Ramirez, and Seth Taylor who did all the heavy lifting.

Sonoma Ecology Center: A Plus Tree’s partner on the CalFIRE grant and support in executing this workshop.
